One of the unavoidable reason why international brands prefer to setup manufacture in Asia is lower cost of productions. The another key reason might be because rice cooker has most demand from Asian countries, Western countries have no ideas why rice cooker are so popular in Asia countries, as most of them don't consume rice as much as as Asian. Well, for Asian, rice is most important food in most of the household. So, most of the rice cooker brands will have R&D and production team in Asia.

And the frequency of rice cooker models update and changes are extremely fast in Malaysia, there can be more than 10 new and advance rice cookers launches in the market. There are chances every month has new rice cooker launch in the market.  and rice cooker prices can be start from very low (below RM80) to RM2,000. The prices differences might due to the functions, technologies, capacity, out looking, country of origin, brand, after sales service quality.
